A Festival of Musical Encounters

The Bragg Creek Music Festival ... blending musical encounters.

Music Festival in the Creek

Bragg Creek Festival - May 29, 30 & 31, 2009

Welcome to the Bragg Creek Festival website.

The second Bragg Creek Festival will be held May 29, 30 and 31 2009 at Bragg Creek Centre. See our performers page for more details on the lineup, our schedule page for performance times. Online Tickets are now closed. Tickets are available at the door.

The first festival was successful thanks to our sponsors and customers. The festival wouldn't have happened without our sponsors. A special thanks to the Bragg Creek and Area Chamber of Commerce for the grant which really got us started.

The Musical Vision

We envision a festival of musical encounters, highlighting and blending Classical, Latin, Folk and Jazz genres. The artists will cross the conventional boundaries that usually divide music into genres or traditions. The audience, from Bragg Creek, Calgary and beyond, will experience distinctive, appealing and exciting examples of what happens when skilled performers move into each other’s musical “space”. Also, we will be inviting the many artists and artisans who reside in and around Bragg Creek to display their work at our venue and all the other participating venues where practical. Local musicians will perform in the various restaurants in Bragg Creek during the lunch and supper hours.

What's Different at the Bragg Creek Music Festival?

  • It's Indoors
The weather in the Foothills in late May could range from cold and snowing to warm and dry. May is often quite wet. The main hall at Bragg Creek Centre and the Snowbirds Chalet are dry and have both heating and air conditioning providing a comfortable environment for the audience to enjoy the entertainment.
  • Smaller Audience
Bragg Creek Centre's auditorium only holds about 500 people so compared to festivals that entertain several thousand people, you'll be closer to the stage and be able to see the performers better. The Snowbirds Chalet has room for under 100 people.
  • Sound and Light
Bragg Creek Centre's sound system is matched to the hall acoustics providing better sound than is available outdoors. All performances are lit to enhance the entertainment experience. The Snowbirds Chalet doesn't need a sound system
  • Musical Diversity
We plan to have performers with various musical styles, including classical, and have them cross their conventional boundaries, into other performer's spaces. In addition, the performers will also provide sets from their own repertoires.
